If its fun, excitement and adventure you’re looking for... then look no further! Let us take you off the beaten track... but straight into the heart of the Algarve!
Travelling in a convoy of open top jeeps we go up hills and down dales, crossing streams and traversing meadows. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of an area almost untouched by time. Our journey will take us along winding earthen tracks to some of the most fascinating places in the Algarve. Breathe the pure air rich with the scent of herbs. Learn about the local fauna and flora. Smell the scent of the eucalyptus trees and learn the secrets of harvesting the ubiquitous cork trees. In tiny white-washed villages where time seems to have stood still you can see some of the old customs still in practice. We will visit a small local distillery where the brave can sample "medronho" - a very potent local drink and where you can see honey being made in the age old way. The day includes a full, delicious lunch served in a typical restaurant.

Pick-Up.
Briefing in Vila Real de Santo António or Castro Marim.
Panoramic view of the Sapal Natural Reserve of Castro Marim – Salinas (salt evaporation pond), salt extraction and Flor de Sal, fauna and flora.
Proof of flor de sal and medronho or fig liquors, depending on the time of the year.
Stop at local basket maker for explanation and exhibition of art, bread oven and tasting of the honey (not always possible to taste the bread or see it in the oven), it depends on the cooking day.
Stop for explanation on cork.
Lunch in the village / typical of the region (Foz de Odeleite or Odeleite).
Stop in Castro Marim within the castle or fort, explanation overlooking the River Guadiana, Ayamonte and VRSA.
Farewell and Drop off's.

Note: Lunch is always included in a typical site, however we do not warrant stopping for swim (due to lack of safe access to water courses at certain times of dry or excess flow in the rainy season).
